World Book Day

Last Thursday we had an incredible day celebrating the world of books as pupils and staff dressed up as their favourite characters from literature or as an adjective. It was great to see such a buzz around the place as pupils learnt about the fun, entertainment and inspiration that books can offer. The message we wanted pupils to take away from the day was that reading offers you the opportunity to let your imagination take you to some amazing places. You can learn about new cultures and explore new facts. We certainly had fun delivering this message and cannot thank parents enough for their support with this day too as costumes were truly amazing. It was very much appreciated and we hope your child enjoyed the day as much as we did!

Pupils really enjoyed taking part in their class parade during assembly at the end of the day. Mrs Carrick worked with some of our KS2 pupils to perform a short play about the joy of books.

Thank you to parents/carers who also sent in photographs of their children reading in some unusual places. Some of these are forming part of a World Book Day display on our plasma screen.
