DNA Detectives WINNERS!

Over the past few weeks there have been two significant events: World Book Day and British Science Week. At Hunwick Primary we combined these events and took part in a special webinar and joined Dr Mandy Hartley, science communicator and author of The DNA Detectives: The Stone Age Mystery in an exciting online read-along of the first chapter of the book. After the story, the children learnt what DNA is and how it can be used to identify suspects by collecting evidence from a crime scene. What's more, they had the chance to become 'DNA Detectives' themselves by helping Mandy solve a World Book Day crime together using their new knowledge and a series of clues. Some of our children solved the crime and were lucky winners - very impressive as over 700 schools took part!
